Elementary

Elementary

The elementary is divided into two cycles: cycle 2 and 3. It includes five levels from CP to CM2.

Cycle 2

This cycle allows the student to continue to acquire the basics of a good and solid education: mastery of language and the French language,  mathematics , civics, physical education and arts education.

PC

First class of the French elementary school , the preparatory course, abbreviated "CP", is the first year of compulsory instruction in France, during which learning to read continues, which is started in  maternal .

The CP corresponds to the first year of  round 2  (basic learning cycle).

Children have access to it in September of the year in which they celebrate their sixth birthday: their age at the start of this class is therefore necessarily between 5 ½ and 6 ½ years old.

National assessments take place at the beginning of the year in CP. They have to target the difficulties of the students and find solutions to remedy them.

CP is followed by CE1 (between 6½ and 7½ years old) the following year.

CP students benefit from a multiple and comprehensive education.

From CP, students have religion lessons

CE1

The 1st year elementary course, also abbreviated as CE1, is, in  France ,

the second class of elementary school , after the  Tutorial  (CP).

This is the second year of  cycle 2 .

It is followed by CE2,  2nd year elementary course .

CE2

The elementary course 2nd year (CE2), or third year of  Cycle 2  or cycle

so-called fundamental learning. In general, the pupils are 8 or 9 years old

based on their birthday.

Followed by the  CM1 , 1st year intermediate course.

Cycle 3

CM1

The middle course 1st year (CM1), or first year of  cycle 3 , is the penultimate level (before entering the  middle school) primary school  in  France . Children have access to it in September of the year in which they celebrate their ninth birthday. The typical age of pupils during this school year is therefore 8 to 10 years old.

Followed by the  CM2 , middle course 2nd year.

From CM1, students have classes in social subjects in Arabic.

CM2

The middle course 2nd year (CM2), or second year of  cycle 3 , is the last year (before entering the  middle school) primary school  in  France . The last year of cycle 3 continues in 6th grade, in college. Children have access to it in September of the year in which they celebrate their tenth birthday. The typical age of students during this school year is therefore 9 to 11 years old.
