Small section (PS)

 

In the French system, the Petite section class, more simply called PS, corresponds to the first year of schooling of a child in nursery school. It welcomes children from the age of 3 years.

The PS is the first year of the first learning cycle. It is located before MS.

 

 

Medium section (MS)

The Moyenne section class, more simply called MS, corresponds to the second year of schooling of a child in nursery school. It welcomes children between 3 and 4 years old.

The MS is the second year of the first learning cycle. It is between the PS and the GS.

 

 

Large section (GS)

The Grande section class, more simply called GS, corresponds to the third year of schooling of a child in nursery school. It welcomes children between 5 and 6 years old.

The GS is the third year of the first learning cycle but also the first year of the fundamental learning cycle. It is between the  MS  and the  CP .

 

 

The objectives of the kindergarten classes are:

  • To acquire a rich, organized and understandable oral language.

  • To learn to learn.

  • To learn to live in  company .

During these years at school, the child learns through play and discovers the world around him. He practices artistic activities, such as  design  and the  paint  and motor activities. The child keeps the same teacher and the same class all year round.

 

 

The current programs have been in effect since the start of the 2015 school year (readjusted in 2019). The lessons are divided into five main areas:

  • Mobilizing language in all its dimensions

  • Acting, expressing oneself, understanding through physical activity

  • Acting, expressing oneself, understanding through artistic activities

  • Build the first tools to structure your thinking

  • explore the world
